Voluntary car schemes

An alternative to community transport are voluntary car schemes. These schemes are generally aimed at helping residents attend hospital and medical appointments and involve volunteers using their own vehicles to give lifts to people. Bookings generally need to be made 48 hours in advance and a donation is requested to cover the cost of the driver’s expenses.

There are currently a couple of schemes operating in the borough:

• Sandhurst Voluntary Care – telephone 07799 410231, Monday to Friday between 2pm and 5pm
